It was such a gift to unleash my inner Vixen after a long, dry period of living life in a laptop driving towards the next deadline. Ladies, if you don’t already have a saucy alter ego to juice life up, I highly recommend it. The burlesque book “Vixen’s Unleashed” is here! Look, it is me on the bottom right. Come hither. I am performing a stand up comedy set about my experience as my burlesque alter ego - Juicy Malone - at a special book launch show featuring several of the performers featured in the book, followed by a TV taping of the very entertaining and award-winning solo show, “Vixen DeVille Revealed”. There is even a red-carpet welcome for photos and an after party with bourbon from R6 Distillery. Your ticket includes a copy of the book, all the proceeds of which go to a scholarship fund to give more women the opportunity to develop their own burlesque alter egos. This shit is therapeutic.

Vixen unleashed me. You could say she unleashed my inner ham. The fun little girl that twirled the baton to Prince’s “Baby I’m a Star” in the driveway and made people laugh by doing the cabbage patch HARD to Salt-N-Pepa’s “Push It”. The one who made up choreographed dances to the song from Fame, “Hot Lunch Jam” with my friend Sherri Dumbrowski in her yard….5-6-7-8. Oh and my impression of Jimmy Carter killed when I was 5! But that playful and sassy girl got pushed WAY down beneath all the deadlines, the earnestness of social impact strategy work I was doing, and the general weight of life. Burlesque derives from the Italian word, burla which means a joke. Burlesque were comic interludes that made fun of serious society. Burlesque really isn’t about arousing men. It is about creating a space where everyone can let their hair down and smile at the bawdy side of life. It isn’t a dream I knew I had until I had an actual dream about doing it! I dared to follow that dream and I draw a direct line from doing burlesque to trying stand-up comedy.
